Khmelnitsky Energy Cluster during the war: helping communities rethink green energy

The team of the Khmelnytsky Energy Cluster, in addition to volunteering, continues to work in the energy sector. After all, energy is a very powerful weapon of the Russian aggressor. Ukraine should reduce gas consumption as soon as possible, and in the future, abandon it altogether. Societies must become more energy-efficient and people more responsible. The organization is located in a “safe” city, where only three missiles have landed in the last month.

More than 35,000 people moved to Khmelnitsky from other cities, where military aggression destroyed peaceful life. More than 130,000 people traveled through the city in transit, staying for a couple of days.

Part of the team helps displaced persons to solve their urgent problems: to find housing, food, clothing, etc.

“The Ukrainian nation is now united like never before. We are paying a very high price for our future! Now everyone is making an effort to be as useful as possible. Our military are heroes protecting civilians, and civilians help the military. This synergy is the key to our victory. Ukrainians are about courage, respect, honor, and devotion,” the activists write.

“We want to thank everyone who supports Ukraine at this historic moment. Those who tell the truth about what is happening with us. Rest assured, we will not forget this support. Ukrainians defend their land and strive for one thing – victory and peace! And we will get it!” – comments Artur Kokarevich, Executive Director of the Khmelnytsky Energy Cluster.

For me, February 24 lasts every day. It’s hard to get used to the fact that there is a war in my country, people are dying, and cities are being shelled. I am glad that each and everyone in Ukraine is making every effort to win. We are most grateful to everyone who helps us abroad. For more than a month of a full-scale war, I had to learn a lot of new things, which would not be useful in ordinary and peaceful life – now I can give master classes on creating camouflage nets. I’m waiting for the day when after scrolling through the news I will finally read that the war is over. That’s when “February 25” will come. Thanks for supporting us!” – says Svetlana Karitun, cluster communication manager.

“I would like to study the topic of renewable energy sources, but the timesforced me to study the principles of handling weapons. When I see that in my city the longest queues are not for the store, but for the military enlistment office and territorial defense, I feel calmer. We will win!” – Stepan Kushnir, chairman of the board of the organization, shares his opinion.
